My wife and I just bought a Samsung 40" LED Smart TV not long ago, so I'm very new to this! I've had Vuze (formerly known as Azureus) for many years, using it as a bit-torrent client. Problems using VUZE as my DLNA server w/ my Samsung TV The HD I mentioned (3 TB) has external power supply, and I hear it spin up when connected to the TV/DVD so I know it's trying to communicate - for some reason it just won't hook up.
I'd really like some guidance as to what I need to do to either get a smooth streaming solution up and going (presently running wired LAN via router) and/or a HDD based one. It doesn't matter if the computer is doing nothing else than running Vuze, or downloading / working on other things at the same time. This behavior is repeated regardless of if the file being streamed is on an internal harddrive, my SDD or an external one. Some files can't even be played for more than half a minute (like my Jurassic Park 22GB) before it stops and reports device unconnected. Can be fine for several minutes and then suddenly hiccup a lot there's no predictability in it.

720p has some stutter issues (small audio/video hiccups that aren't a catastrophe, but really annoying and disturbing), and 1080p stutters even more. Ordinary DivX are no problem, but as soon as we move up quality-wise it's not perfect anymore. I like it a lot *but* I can *not* get it to work as flawlessly as I see reported here. Tried all the ones listed here, but got nowhere with anyone except Vuze. So I went hunting for a streaming solution. Also tried it on the Samsung BluRay player, but it too did not recognize it.

I've formatted it NTFS which according to the manual should mean it's a done deal (tried doing the same to smaller drives like a 8 GB flash and it worked like a charm) but it's no go when plugging it into the dedicated USBHDD-port as well as the other USB port intended for flash drives. However I've been unable to get it to recognize my external harddrive (which is kinda odd since it's a Samsung company it's a Seagate 3 TB). Got a 46" LED Samsung the other day, and have been fiddling around trying to make the most of it. Good luck (and remember 70% of the brain is water)
And turn on the Tv and the BD and you have all the files. Now it is very important that when you go to "transcoding Settings" in section "Misc Options" u click "Definitely disable subtitles" and "Skip transcode for the following extensions (comma separated)" you write m4v, mp3, vob, jpg and all the file's extensions that you r interested (let Samsung do the transcoding). It does not matter that u don't have PS3! I selected in "Navigation/Share Settings the shared folder "WD USB ext Hard drive" with the photo/video/music.

Then i used "PS3 Media Server" software (it is free)ĭownloaded installed on the Mac and of course it says that does not see any PS3 (Thanks God cause i hate killing people even if it is fictional). I connected the ExtHD to the the Router that has DLNA capabilities. Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router (from Wai-Mart expensive but worth it every penny)Ī normal TV (hopefully it will be soon a Samsung UN6000).
I haven't tried FAT since it does not allow larger files (4GB - isos and MKV files). I have attached an NTFS external drive to the powered USB port on the tv, and it seems to work fine, but I cannot use record/pause functions. I usually add files to my Itunes device, and after they are added, drag them over to my Samsung UN46D6500 Device in Vuze where they don't seem to need any more processing. Vuze is very good at transcoding files for my Iphone and adding the files to my Itunes library.

You can drag and drop files into the DEVICE area(in the MAC and Windows version - not supported in Linux) from the Download area or from FINDER or DESKTOP and Vuze will transcode files to a format that will play over DLNA and they will be available for your device in the Samsung Allshare area. I have had very mixed results with Samsungs DLNA client.
